Eruca versicaria, arugula, rocket, and roquette are all names used to refer to this member of the brassica family. No matter what you call it, growing fresh greens from seed is a fun, easy way to get excited about adding more vegetables to your diet. Simply sow seeds in rows in the garden or in pots after the last frost, cover lightly, and keep moist until seedlings appear. Arugula is cool weather tolerant and fast-growing, and it can also be succession planted and enjoyed almost year-round. If you lack the outdoor space or find container gardening more convenient, arugula will happily grow in pots kept in partially shaded areas. You can choose to harvest leaves individually or all at once by gathering the desired leaves into a bundle and cutting the stems one inch above the soil.
