You will receive one trumpet vine (Campsis radicans) starter plant in a 2.5-inch pot. Also known as trumpet creeper or hummingbird vine, this vigorous native vine climbs and scrambles over fences, trellises, arbors, and anything else in reach, draping supports in garlands of glossy dark green leaves. Can become heavy enough to pull down weaker supports, so plant accordingly! In summer, it produces abundant clusters of reddish-orange, trumpet-shaped flowers that attract a wide variety of pollinators, including hummingbirds. This plant can produce vines up to 30' in length and its woody stems can reach several centimeters in diameter, so it is best suited to large areas! Prefers to climb but can also form a dense groundcover. Tolerant of a wide variety of soils as long as moisture is average. Full sun induces most abundant flowering, though trumpet vine will grow in shade. Can be pruned extremely aggressively to contain and shape; this plant spreads vigorously via underground rhizomes and also self-seeds. Zones 4-9.
