You will receive one 2.5-inch pot containing a number of Garnet Stem endive starter plants. This variety features bright green leaves atop distinctive garnet-colored stems and adds vibrant color and mild flavor to salads. Perfect for spring and fall planting, as frost sweetens the taste, while summer heat may make endive bitter or induce it to bolt. If overwintered, endive self-seeds in its second year and can establish itself in the garden. A compact plant at only about 8" tall, endive thrives in full sun conditions and requires moderate watering to flourish. Can be harvested leaf by leaf for cut-and-come-again harvests or as a loose head. Endive may be blanched by gathering the stems and tying them together 2-3 weeks before harvest.
