Choose between 1 oz and 4 oz of dried whole All Spice, Pimenta dioica
Flavor: Sweet, savory, and warm- just like mixing cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Allspice is technically a dried, unripe fruit. It is a common ingredient in pickling spice blends, ketchup and seasonal baked goods. Allspice may also be used for curing meats. In traditional herbalism, allspice has been recommended for digestive problems, fevers, joint pain, and menstrual cramps and for supporting the nervous system and a healthy appetite. According to James A. Duke, allspice is “reported to be anodyne, antioxidant, bactericidal, carminative, fungicidal, stimulant and stomachic.” Allspice has been used historically as a folk remedy for neuralgia and rheumatism.
