You will receive a seed packet containing 5 grams or approximately 1000 seeds. Eutrochium fistulosum, commonly known as Hollow Joe Pye Weed, Purple Thoroughwort, or Queen of the Meadow, is a striking native herbaceous perennial. Known for its towering height of 4 to 7 feet, this plant is an impressive addition to gardens, particularly as a dramatic accent in the back border or in naturalized meadows. Hollow Joe Pye Weed thrives in moist to wet, rich soils but can adapt to gravelly or sandy soils with sufficient moisture. It prefers full sun to partial shade and grows best in neutral to slightly acidic soils. Deer-resistant and highly attractive to pollinators, its pinkish-purple flower clusters draw bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects, while songbirds feast on the seeds. Ideal for native and pollinator gardens, this plant requires ample space to flourish. Support may be needed for tall stems in shadier spots. To maintain its health and appearance, cut the stems back to the ground in late winter and divide clumps in fall or early spring to encourage new growth or prevent overcrowding.
